In the summer of 2012 we hired Courtney Grah to serve as our Director of Women’s Ministry. Courtney works with women’s basketball, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, cross-country, cheerleading and swimming. She mentors female student/athletes in a one-on-one, and small group setting to provide a safe environment for the young women to discuss anything going on in their lives. Courtney also conducts small group meetings with female coaches to encourage them and guide them as they go through tough seasons, decisions of discipline with athletes, and personal struggles of marriage and children in light of their schedules as D-1 coaches. Courtney shares with both the student/athletes and coaches the value of having a strong faith foundation in their lives and answers questions they have about their faith. Courtney also leads two weekly Bible studies, one with female coaches, and one with female student/athletes. The groups go through different materials together to learn more about each other, their faith, and how to be a positive and Godly example for their teammates and other young ladies in the greater Nashville community.
In the fall of 2014, we expanded our women’s ministry to serve the women’s basketball team at Belmont University. At Belmont, Aimee Brown is serving the women’s basketball team with weekly meetings and one-on-one sessions that is very similar to Courtney’s efforts at Vanderbilt.
Aimee has nearly the whole team attending her weekly pre-season Bible study and loves pouring into these girls and the program that she was an All-American for during her very own collegiate playing days.
