"Thanks For Making Us!"

"God, thank you for making all of us because if You hadn't we sure would be lonely." -Bailey Brown

My little six-year daughter said the above prayer as we prepared to eat Sunday lunch. I couldn't help but quietly laugh at the thought processes of an innocent little girl. She just said it like she felt it. You see, her momma is out of town and she is stuck with her two sisters and dad! But since mom won't be back for a couple of days, then I guess she figured we were better than nothing and thanking God for us was the only right thing to do.

Have you ever felt lonely? I mean you could be in a room full of people, and yet you feel all alone. Why is loneliness such a scary thing? It can be almost suffocating.

What does God’s Word say?:

So don't worry, because I am with you. Don't be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and will help you; I will support you with my right hand that saves you. Isaiah 41:10

"I will not leave you all alone like orphans; I will come back to you. John 14:18

Be strong and brave. Don't be afraid of them and don't be frightened, because the LORD your God will go with you. He will not leave you or forget you." Deuteronomy 31:6

The mountains may disappear, and the hills may come to an end, but my love will never disappear; my promise of peace will not come to an end," says the LORD who shows mercy to you. Isaiah 54:10

Wow! Isn't it great to know that God promises to be there? Sure we have family, friends, co-workers, teammates, etc., but when we really feel lonely, and no one seems to fill that void, God steps in!

Yes, loneliness can be scary. Yes, it can seem hopeless. However, when we stop and remember the creator of hope...when we take the time to call on the One who gives us hope...when we look to heavens and dream of our future hope in glory, we can rest assured that we are not alone at all. We have the promises of God Almighty that He will always be there with us, and for us! Like the old hymn goes, "what a friend we have in Jesus!"

Just a thought!
