“Nothing ruins the truth like stretching it!” --Unknown

Have you ever embellished a story to make yourself look better? Have you ever had someone say something about you that sounded really good, but wasn’t exactly true, and you did nothing to correct it?

If you answered no to either of these questions you probably just lied! We have all “stretched the truth” to make ourselves seem better. It is an easy thing to do. Sometimes it happens before we even realize it. For me, personally, I have become a greater athlete the further I get from my actual playing days. By the time I’m 40 I will have been an All-Stater in five sports!

What does God’s Word say?:

"He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him." John 7:18

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body."Ephesians 4:25

Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. Prov. 12:19

When we stretch the truth to make us look good, we have not just told a little white lie…we have compromised our character. Our mild exaggerations will one day be discovered and then those around us will struggle in their ability to trust us.

I want folks to believe me. I want to be found trustworthy by those that I come in contact with. I want to be a man who is known to be real and sincere.

Just a thought!
