“Servanthood”
This is the weekly email devotional of WhoUWith? Ministries (2006)

“You’ve got to love your people more that your position.” –John Maxwell

What type of leader do you like to follow? Now let’s be honest.
  • A servant…or someone on a power kick?
  • A servant…or someone who is more concerned about personal success than team?
  • A servant…or someone who is “above” everyone else
Trust is the backbone to any lasting relationships you will have in life. Think about it…what if you couldn’t truly trust:
  • -your teammates
  • -your co-workers
  • -your spouse
  • -your friends
Servanthood leadership is a forgotten art in the world we live in today. We live in a society that says, “You better take care of you.” “If you want to get to the top you are going to have to step on some folks along the way

You can argue a lot of things about Jesus, but you can never say He is not a leader. Who has a larger following than Christ? What was His leadership style with His disciples?

What does God's Word say?:
…so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. John 13:4-5 .

He was a foot washer!?! The Lord and Savior of the world, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords knelt down and washed feet. Later, after Jesus’ death and resurrection, the disciples were persecuted and killed for their faith in Christ. What made them stand so bold and strong? I have to believe that a small part of their boldness came from the memory of the night Jesus washed their feet

What type of leader are you? Do you try to put those around you down so you can be lifted up? Do you complain and grumbled about how things are, and yet you never try to be a part of the solution
Just a thought!

If so, then today would be a great day to serve, “wash feet”, love others and see what happens. Somebody just might follow your lead
