"We want the destination, but we don't
want the path. We want blessings, but we don't want the King." --Tommy
When was the last time you
had something really awesome just handed to you? Im not talking about a
Christmas gift from a loving family member, but more like a life long dream
that should have required a ton of effort and sweat, but instead you walked
away hands full and your pores dry My
guess is that few of us have had an experience of reaching our dreams and not
having to make a sacrifice. Reality teaches us that if you want to reach your
goals then you must be willing to pay a price. There is no free
lunch
Unfortunately, we are living
in a culture that tells us that you can have it your way right away
or it is more about being in the right place at the right time than
it is about hard work and patience. We dont like age old phrases like
paying our dues. We think our dreams are in getting that starting
position, that promotion, that next house or that lottery ticket
What does God's Word say?: For the
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord. ~Romans 6:23.
For it is by grace you have
been saved, through faithand this not from yourselves, it is the gift of
God not by works, so that no one can boast. ~Ephesians
2:8-9
The truth about
reaching your destination is that the path will not always be easy. There will
be hurdles to jump and even mountains to climb. However, how much sweeter is a
destination reached through hard work, patience and obedience than one handed
to us? AAs we read in the verses above
there is one thing in life that is free. It is the gift of eternal life through
a personal relationship with Christ. Even though this gift is free for you and
me, it was still costly. It costs God His Son. It was a price too high for us
to pay. God sent His Son to pay the price for us.
Where is your eternal destination? There is no
effort that you can do that will get you to God. Accept the King as your Savior
and Lord and reap the blessings of His effort for you
Just a thought!
