"What lies behind us and what lies before
us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
There is a Monday every
January, we celebrate the life of Martin L. King.He had a dream.it was a world
of harmony and racial peace. He lived
for the day of complete reconciliation and equality. A day when men were judged
by the character of their heart, and not the color of their skin.
Do you think we have arrived at MLK's dream?
Unfortunately, I would have to say NO!
As we look at what is behind us.much of the
division and segregation is gone, but we still have a long way to go.
As we look at what is before
us.let's dream of reconciliation and equality between men.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus
about reconciling the Jews and the Gentiles. These two races could not even
stand to be in the same room together when Paul wrote these words:
What does God's Word say?: For he
himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier,
the dividing wall of hostility, . Ephesians 2:14 Christ's death and resurrection broke the
barriers between the Jew and the Gentile. Christ's death and resurrection can
break any barriers of prejudice you have in your heart today. Because Christ
destroyed the "wall of hostility" we can have real unity with those who are not
like ourselves. Our cultural background
molds parts of our unique personality, our skin identifies us as uniquely
created by God Almighty and the Cross should be our focus of unity.
Just a thought!
