“Persistence”
This is the weekly email devotional of WhoUWith? Ministries (2006)

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not. Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not. Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not. The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence, determination and hard work make the difference.” –President Calvin Coolidge

Have you ever felt like quitting? Yes. What about just “coasting” to the end, instead of finishing strong? Yes. In each of these situations persistence and determination are the missing ingredients that will overcome quitting, coasting and laziness.

Do you have these qualities in your life? Did you know that God calls us to be persistent and determined in all that we do?

What does God's Word say?:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1-3 .

Christ is calling us to “fix our eyes on Him” and to run the “race marked out for us”! What is this race? Quiet simply it is the race of life. How are you doing? Have you gotten out of the starter’s block? Have you pulled up injured?

The most important question is not where you are in the race, but who are you looking at? Any runner will tell you the worst thing you can do is look around for your opponent. You must keep your eyes focused straight ahead on the finish line.
Just a thought!

In life, you will fail every time if you are comparing yourself to those around you. Fix your eyes on the finish line, on Christ, and be determined to run the race with great perseverance! Runners to your mark!!!
