"When God measures a man, He puts the tape
around the heart instead of the head." -God's Little Book of
Instruction
What is your
reflection? When you allow people to see your heart what do they really see?
What do you wish they saw? Part of loving someone is allowing them to see you
for who you really are and trusting them to love you anyway. It isn't easy to
lay yourself out there. The experience of rejection and acceptance are not too
distance of cousins. When you allow your true heart to be seen you take the
risk of rejection in hopes of receiving the treasure of acceptance. It is a
gamble that we need to take or we will never experience life to the full. What
does God's Word say?: "As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the
man." Proverbs 27:19
The LORD does
not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but
the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7b
When others see your heart, wouldn't it be great
if they saw a glimmer of Christ? To be like David, who God called, "a man after
His own heart"? How can we have that kind of heart for God? Here are three
suggestions:
- Get in the Word and Pray 2.
- Spend time with others who desire to have a heart for
God 3.
- Actively pursue a growing relationship with Christ by
getting plugged into a Bible-based, Christ-centered church
Who needs to see your heart today? Don't let the
fear of rejection keep you from being true and open with a friend or love one
today! Just a thought!
