“In The Trenches”
This is the weekly email devotional of WhoUWith? Ministries (2006)

“There is no limit to what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit.” John Wooden

Have you worked really hard on something, it went well and then the credit went to someone else? Welcome to the world of an offensive line!
Think about it. Would you want to bang, pound and best your body against someone else for 3 hours? Would you want to do all that and then have some “cute little running back” or “cocky QB” get all the glory?
It is the same in basketball…the person who sets the pick to get the shooter open never receives any credit…the one who makes the shot is the hero. However, any coach will tell you that you don’t win unless those “down in the trenches” kind of folks are on the team.
It is that way in life? Yes, not everyone can be the hero…the success story…the great singer or speaker. The world puts its worth in those types of things, but God puts His worth in us being available and giving Him all that we have…however much, or little, that may seem like to us..

What does God's Word say?:
“…The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret-- it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. Psalm 37:5-9
Christ is looking for a “few good men” to get down in the trenches and work out their faith in this thing called life. People who are not concerned about personal glory, but only that God receives glory through the obedience of their life.
What about you? Are credit, accomplishments and worldly recognition more important to you than living the kind of life that Christ calls us to live? Not being perfect, but giving all we have for the One who gave all He had for us!

Just a thought!
