"If at first you don't succeed, try reading
the instructions."
Have you ever tried to assemble something
without looking at the directions? I'll never forget the first gas grill I
tried to assemble and then there was the big wooden swing set for my kids and
then...well, you get the picture! Why do we ignore instructions and think we
can find a better way?
I have found that I do the very same thing with
my own life. There have been many times that I have ignored God's instruction
(His Word) and done what I thought was best. Actually, it didn't even have to
be what I thought was best, but simply what felt good at the moment that
dictated my actions.
What does God's Word say?:
Joshua 1:8
"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it
day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then
you will be prosperous and successful."
Too many times we make
decisions based on our feelings...or our own opinion. If I assembled a gas
grill based on my feelings and opinions then, chances are, a major explosion is
in my near future! Obedience means going by the book.
If doing things
in your strength, and power, is failing, why not check the owner's manual?
Christ wants to change your life...He wants to "re-assemble" you into His
likeness. A chapter a day out of the book of John is a great place to begin.
Start reading the instructions today!
Just a thought!
