"What do you do after the goalposts of
your life are taken down?"
When goalposts come down after a
football game it means something great has happen. I got to witness just such
an event this past weekend, and I have to say it was fun to watch. The question
is, what next? I don't mean how will they get the goalposts back up in the
stadium. I mean once the celebration of victory is over, what then? The
character of a team is not only revealed in how they respond to adversity, but
also in how they handle success.
I believe the same could be said about
how we live life. When things in your life are going great do you forget God?
It is easy to remember God as long as there are final exams, job terminations,
season-ending injuries, cancer, divorce, etc. But what about when you are
experiencing victories in your life? Isn't that when we put God on the back
burner and take life into our own hands? Isn't that when we forget
what...excuse me Who...got us the victory?
What does Gods Word
say?:
But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who
humble themselves will be exalted. Matthew 23:12
For
He has taken princes from their thrones and exalted the lowly.
Luke 1:52
In life, the greatest time for the enemy to
knock you off is on the heels of victory. Satan loves to blind-side us just
when we thought we had life all figured out. It is true in football, and it is
true in life, you better keep both feet on the ground or you will get put on
your back!
There is nothing sweeter than victory...in sports...in life.
But there is nothing more bitter than let down, and disappointment. Enjoy the
celebration! Bring down those goalposts! But stay alert. Be ready. The enemy is
only regrouping for another attack. Walk close to Christ each day and He will
be your defender and protector!
