“Friends”
This is the weekly email devotional of WhoUWith? Ministries (2004)

“Remember, a man who has friends will always be successful.” –Clarence, “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Do you have very many friends? I’m talking about folks who you have conversations with that never go deeper than tomorrow’s weather and who’s your favorite to win the Heisman.

We’re talking about those people who are your friends even when they know the real you. The ones who will carry you out in a box when your time here on earth is done. (How is that for a cheerful devotional thought?!) In reality those types of friends are few and far between.

What does God’s Word say?:

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17

"The slap of a friend can be trusted to help you, but the kisses of an enemy are nothing but lies. "Proverbs 27:6

IIf you don’t have any friends like this, then maybe you should ask yourself if you’re being the kind of friend that you wish others would be to you? What? It has been my experience that the only way to have the kind of friendships that go deeper than sports and weather is to be a friend who cares about someone on a level which goes way beyond just the five-day forecast.

You may have success by the world’s standards, but don’t you want more than just good grades, money, popularity, etc. All those things will fade, but strong friends will only get stronger as the world’s “wealth” disappears. What kind of friend are you being to those in your life today?

Just a thought!
