"Life is uncertain; eat dessert
first."
This is my wife's life anthem! Can I be honest? It makes
me a little sick how she can eat all kinds of chocolates and assorted sweets
and not gain any weight. As for myself, I can smell chocolate and go up a whole
waist size.
There is a lot of truth in the fact that life is uncertain.
We would like to think there are people and things which we can count on,
however the longer I walk out this deal called life the more I realize that not
only will I experience disenchantment, but I will also dish out my share of
disappointments to those around me.
Are there any certainties in life?
Since life is uncertain...where is the dessert?
What does God’s
Word say?:
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No
one can come to the Father except through me". John 14:6
No one will be able to stand their ground against you as
long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail
you or abandon you. Joshua 1:5
The only certainty in
life is found in the One who gave us life. Christ promises to never leave us or
forsake us. He promises to be our comforter and redeemer...our Savior, Lord and
friend.
OK, then where is the dessert in life? It is in having a
personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Notice I did not mention a
religion, or a church, or a denomination, or a faith, but a relationship. God
sent His Son to earth in an act of love. God was reaching down to us, since we
were unable to reach up to Him.
Have you experienced the "dessert" of
Christ dwelling in your heart and life? There is no sweeter feeling than His
peace and joy flowing in you and through you. Go ahead indulge yourself in the
"dessert" of our Savior and Lord today!
