"Surviving and living your life successfully
requires courage. The goals and dreams you're seeking require courage and risk
taking. Learn from the turtle, it only makes progress when it sticks out its
neck."
My friends and family would probably all tell you that
I'm not much of a risk taker. I'm not sure if I am, or not, I'm too scared to
take the chance of answering wrong!!
What is the biggest risk you have
taken? Rock climbing? Skiing? Getting engaged?! Changing majors? Changing
careers? Life is full of risks...or is it?
What does Gods Word
say?:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your
own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.
Don't be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn your
back on evil. Then you will gain renewed health and vitality. Proverbs
3:5-8
"So don't worry about having enough food or drink
or clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these
things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you
all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God
your primary concern. "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring
its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:31-34
I'm finding that risks are only risks when we don't check
in with God first. If we are seeking to follow Him with our hearts, then our
decisions are filtered through His will for our lives.
There is no risk
in doing something we know God has called us to do. We may experience fear and
anxiety, but these are just emotions based on our lack of faith. It has been my
experience that the only real risk is found when we don't follow Christ's lead
and we decide to do our own thing!
Be like the turtle...stick your neck
out and see where God wants to lead you!
