Our History
Background WhoUWith? Ministries was founded by Lance Brown in August 2001. Lance was serving as Assistant Area Director of the Nashville/Middle TN Fellowship of Christian Athletes (1991-2001) when a Vanderbilt football player approached him in 1995 about being the team chaplain. He began serving in this capacity as he continued to work in over 40 local high schools and middle schools in the Middle TN area for FCA. Over time, Lance became aware of the great need these players and coaches had for someone to pour into their lives and be available to them on a daily basis. After much prayer, he resigned from FCA, after ten years, in the summer of 2001 and launched WhoUWith? Ministries. Since then, Lance has led numerous Bible studies for student/athletes and coaches on the football team and has even worked with the Vanderbilt baseball team since the spring of 2005. In 2003, the ministry continued to expand as Ginger Carr joined the staff to work with the female coaches / administrators and athletes. Then, in the summer of 2005, we realized our three year dream of opening a ministry house right off the campus of Vanderbilt. This house serves as our office, the weekly meeting place for Vanderbilt's FCA, and the site for many of our Bible studies and board meetings. It has also become a place many of the athletes like to go to unwind and relax! WhoUWith is dedicated to mentoring the student athlete on the various topics that a Division-I athlete may be facing. We provide these athletes with the information, resources, and tools to assist them in their daily lives.
